Exploring Leeds Central Library Space

Amin and Finn from the team went to the exhibition space to gather information about the space and layout of the exhibition. We thought by looking at the space first it would allow us to identify what we are working with, and how we could create a successful exhibition brand that can be tailored to the venue. This involved looking at where wayfinding systems would be placed, and how work could be hung.

"The concept so far is to design a gallery setting, based around the current exhibition space. In essence working with what is already provided in order for the design to blend in, allowing the work to become the viewers focal point whilst still subconsciously communicating a relevant message in the background.

At this point, the circular theme would run consistent with the architecture of the gallery space, due to the circular theme that is found in patterns on the floor and also a series of circle sculptures hung from the walls; trapping whoever is within the space with the constant repetition of the shape."


An interesting idea Amin developed was the idea to use the circle hanging from the ceiling as a way to showcase a gif, or a slideshow of the work, here is his sketch idea below:
