The pattern design that will be used for the utility series, the shapes and pattern used mimic the visual feature of the show, from the circle representing the L and R button on the back of the show, to the stripes linking to the ribbon design applied to the back of the shoes. The over lay of the type links to the label design that is sewn on the outside of the shoe.
Here is the final outcome design of the utility series poster - Added detail was made tot he show design itself to further link tot he new unique design and make it more identifiable. The folding poster design was applied to add to the aesthetic used on the original orange poster it also adds extra depth to the outcome.
experimental design created with arranging layers to create this design - but removes detail of the shoe
This design was really simple and easy to make - incorporating the snake inspired from initial sketches. The logo force is female is placed boldly to like to the message and the snake wraps around the show to add depth and a form of interaction/attention to the shoe design.
The design shown above show how the outcomes could all link together in composition yet differ in style - this could form a strong final outcome for a poster series and form a nice flow tot he magazine.
Development designs look at different compositions and styles. This part of the project helped identify if the designs should offer a consistent layout so that all designs flow well in the editorial, or if they should be different and reflect their unique styles.
The editor of the magazine said that designs were really good however she wanted the final design to differ in composition to offer more detail and singularity to each design on each spread.
Below are the changes i compositions made to the two designs as the orange design made already will remain the same.
I added the orange on this design shown above to add a pop of colour and contrast so that it didn't seem boring in composition and design compared to the others (two previous designs above). This would also make the inverted version of this poster really interesting a-swell as the blue works really well with the black and the orange looked great with the white.
