For SB2 I have decided to focus on the Attitudes of 'Colourism' and skin colour. When travelling to countries such as India, and (recently) Hong Kong, I became to fully realise the notion and attitude towards those of darker skin tone. In Asia, skin bleaching products are heavily reinforced on both the female and male demographic. Those with a lighter skin tone are seen as people of superiority to those of a darker skin colour. I've always really hated the heavily advertised products, I would go into a store and would find it hard to find a facial product without bleach in it. My feelings towards this is that, people have fought, and died for being the skin colour that they are, and to this day people are still fighting to form equality for all skin colours in society; However the use of skin bleaching completely contradicts this. This also really upsets me and effect me, as in the society in Asia, I would probably be seen as inferior to others, being based on the Melanin in my skin.
> For this project, I really want to bring awareness to this attitude that people have and contradict it. Becoming a project that bring awareness to the practises made to get lighter skin, and also promote a form of self love. To love the skin that you are in.
