Brief 2 - Group Exercise

To broaden our understanding and thought process towards our initial ideas, as a group our chosen words were rotated around a table. We were given a selected amount of time to draw and create letters that represented other peoples chosen word. This process was rather refreshing and allowed me to realise the many ways I could approach my chosen word in a form of a typeface.

The image on the left is my own sketches, where we were given one minute to create 9 thumbnail designs which incorporate images that we feel related to ours words. My outcomes related to the relation of static electricity with its sharp strokes. The image on the right was of other peoples approach to my word, the thumbnail drawing shared great similarities which was rather interesting. The lettering exercise was rather helpful as the sketches produced were different to my initial ideas, offering me more approaches.

Overall, the activity was really helpful and insightful to open up the broad ways to which I could approach this brief. To gain a better understanding in future projects I will use this same process.
