Static fades is a visual archive of all research and development created by Carsten Nicolai, showing the process of creating ‘an encroachment into the everyday life of the town Kassel” through static forms. The projects journey in this book enables a visualisation of sound based on the impact of many different components and energy sources.

An insightful and interesting book. Carsten Nicolai approaches the many ways in which static as a form can be represented. From sound, light and kinetic energy, his work helped allow me to think of ways in which I could approach this project, heavily inspiring my development and interest into incorporating texture and sounds into my typeface designs.
