SB1 - Research

The chosen venues for the lie to come from our Belgrave and bakery 164 - this is because they are heavily student populated places and would offer a better from of reaction from the students.

Visited each venue to gain primary imagery and an understanding for what the identity is and their aesthetic - this would later on help with idea generation and design approaches.

Bakery 164:

Logo and colour scheme of Bakery 164 is the red and creamy yellow combo, this could be used in the design outcome to create an poster that corresponds tot he aesthetic of 164

Primary imagery taken and screen shot of website to gain understanding for visual aesthetic - something that can be used for the design

Overall Bakery 164 is a smallest and intimate cafe. Fresh food and an easy to copy aesthetic. A walk away from the Uni so could be more believable. Ideas could be getting a free sandwich, signing up to be a member that offers reward etc. However the small business might make it that much more difficult as many could go tot he bakery and request the chosen 'reward' and this could anger the owners as its busy and crowded as it is.

BELGRAVE

Primary imagery and website screen shot again to identify aesthetic and colour scheme

Belgrave iconic look and feel is given from the neon lights - they offer a warmth in feel. Red is the most prominant lcolour for the venue. Red neon light outside entrance, inside and on rooftop - shown throughout the venue. Well known and populated by a student hub so again good idea for students. Also a lot nicer and expensive that bakery164.

The chosen target audience for this project is Leeds Arts University Students. This way final outcomes can be quickly executed and documented with the given time for the brief.
The driving point of the lie is to convince students they will be able to get free food from a chosen food supplier. They will need to sign in through an online portal in order to receive this offer, and becomes a successful way to monitor and contact participants before the “event” to inform them of the lie. Primary imagery was taken of two popular food places of choice from the group, Bakery 164 and Belgrave Music Hall. These photos helped identify key aspects that make them well known to LAU students, and convincing aesthetics that could be used to match the venue. Group member Bronte executed rough initial concepts for Bakery 164, incorporating colours from primary imagery.

ROUGH INITIAL CONCEPT IDEAS CREATED BY BRONTE:

- shows logo clearly
- the front shop photo is clear indicator
- colour scheme is shown and executed
- 'free sandwiches' easy to read
