SB8 - Evaluation

This brief was the most unique out of all my projects. Normally relying on research from articles and books, having to rely on my own experiences and culture was really interesting. This project was really self expressive and almost a form of self realisation and growth. Time management wise I was able to fully immerse myself with idea generation very quickly, having a piece that represented me and my identity I was able to know for myself what would work best and what I thought was the most successful design. I took advantage of having many asian friends and family members by getting feedback on what they thought of the work and if it was something they could relate to.

The piece was exhibited in Leeds at the beginning of March, and has also been selected to be included in the ‘Pennycress Magazine’ that will be released on the 11th of May.

The piece was extremely successful on social media, It was shared by ‘Brown Girl Gang’ a popular instagram page that celebrates the asian female demographic. The piece had been seen by over 25,000 unique followers, and shared on countless of people's Instagram stories expressing how the relate to the work. The piece was successful in the submission for the ‘Female Asian Festival’ where it was exhibited in front to one thousand of those who attended. I received really positive feedback to those who attended on the day, and the curator of the exhibition has asked for me to be a part of her next exhibition that will be held in London this summer.

Overall this piece has really benefited me as a designer outside of university, allowing me to gain many contacts, friends, and exposure. After the success of this piece, I might look into developing this into a series of film posters with other relatable scenarios.
