The designs above are the strongest approaches made during the initial stages outcome.
The collage design was the most successful design approach to the song, and was further developed digitally. Images of the collages were edited through brightness and contrast to increase the quality and depth of the photos. Composition was explored, looking at how negative space formed a stronger focus on the design making the overall design more successful. Coloured backgrounds were introduced to see how the design could be further progressed. The most successful design through various crit, was the those with a white backgrounds as it brought more attention to the detail of the collage. During the collage process, each individual element was laid loosely (not glued) when experimenting with composition, so various ideations could be formed quickly. This also formed shadows in the collages which created a level of depth to the overall look which made the designs look more physical than digital.
The 9 designed above were edited to make them stronger in contrast and detail with photoshop. They were then sent around the class to be critiqued, the notes collected from this indicated that the strongest designs were the ones that had no colours background as it formed stronger focus on the design. The colours outcomes did look great they mentioned - but they deterred your view from the collage design.
This design was the strongest as it offered the strongest balance of elements and representations of the song. Removing the skill imagery made it look less gimmicky and overrated in representing what love is.
