SB1 - Initial Ideas

With short time to make project the outcome needs to be quick to make, easy to link to Belgrave and simple in composition - not overly complicated.

Belgrave Music Hall was the chosen location for the brief. Looking back at primary imagery and looking at their social media, the most prominent visual from the venue was their neon lights. The neon lights will play a large part on the visuals for the design work of the brief, making it the focus of attention on the design outcomes. The well known aesthetic of the venue will act as the convincer to or  target audience. With the short amount of time given for the brief, we needed to design and agree on an outcome that could be placed out in Uni for two days to get a better reaction.

The design will be simple yet eye catching through the use of neon lights inspired type, the lie will be executed through a poster design, and and online sign up portal to monitor the reactions of the students.

Chosen Venue
- Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen
- Know someone who works there
- Student Hub
- Known for great food (bit pricey for students)
- Has snug bar and rooftop garden
- Iconic look and aesthetic is the red neon light outside with the name and also inside for Snug Bar
- Most overall taken picture on Instagram

WHAT TO DO WITH DESIGN
- links to aesthetic
- easy to identify and read
- what is the offer - free drink and burger when you sign up
- a branding design that can be used on posters leaflets and website.

Typography

- Neon Lights

- Curved and continues line, clear evident style
- How to form a neon light glow to mimic the neon lights
- colour of lights will be red to match the front house sign
- 'Neon Tubes' typeface
- continuous line style forms clear relation to how neon lights look.

Colour Scheme

- taken from primary imagery
- warm velvety tones
- more towards the red and browns
- background needs to be dark to show and illuminate neon lights
- dark background to add to effect of glowing type

Further Imagery (Secondary for High Quality)

Poster sketches

- simple composition designs
- needs to have logo of Belgrave on it to make more believable
- FREE FOOD in large type to catch audience
- pointers to type to further add attention or is that too demanding and beggy?
- 'Want a free dinner' - rhetorics to grab attention of students (money is low as a students - a great opp)
- Could have uni logo to further add to partnership feel for the exclusive offer
- Free food must be the largest type on the poster design for attention grabbing and to the point marketing
- Paragraph to mention the details to sign up process - not too much writing
- QR code for mobile interaction?
- Image of the venue in picture would be too distracting and fake - could be easy to identify as fake
