SB7 - Final Outcome

The celebratory secret 7 design was created for ‘Take me out’ by Franz Ferdinand. The design follows the rules of the the brief and doesn't include the title or name of the band. Research helped inform the design concept, combining the two meanings behind the song; this outcome visually narrates the lyrics. The collage design echoes the iconic visuals of the ‘Take me out’ dadaist music video in a more simplistic and contemporary way. The outcome chosen offers a detailed and eye catching design that will encourage viewers to look further into the detail and imagery used, reading the phrases used to add further context to what the EP cover is for.

The imagery chosen for the final collage all have a purpose in visually narrating the meaning of the song. The gun target placed in the centre links to the the assassination of Franz, his death wasn’t immediate and this is shown through the way in which the heart isn’t places in the centre of the target. The posing woman responds to the more modernised interpretation of the song, of taking a woman home. ‘The ceasefire who refused’ heavily refers back to the assassination of Franz and his wife, as multiple shots were fired.
