SB4 - Production

ENVELOPE CONCEPT

I was really inspired by the packaging of this issue of HYPEBEAST magazine - showing how the packaging can really take it that little bit further. It has a really cool grittiness to it which I think would work really well with Jasmines Branding - I talked to her about creating a branding that also comprised of envelopes she could use to send out to professionals - she really liked the idea.

Sketch ideas to show to Jasmine how the end packaging product could look
and what it will contain. Jasmine will be designing the Zine so whats shown
in the sketch won't be explored by me.

We agreed on these silver envelopes that will have the logo placed on. We choses this bubble wrap envelopes the work she will make will be placed and sent in here with any other branding assets. Not only does the envelope stand out and look really interesting it also will protect Jasmines work when being mailed out.

Experimenting with spray painting the logo with a stencil - smudges a lot easier and detail is lost in the paint drip parts of the logo making it look very irregular and messy.

Experimenting with spray painting the logo with a stencil over the envelope - the outcome came out really messy and blurred - this is due to intricate elements of the design from spray painting. The overall outcome isn't smooth and if it were to be improved I may have to create a laser cut out stencil possibly of acrylic.

Jasmine decided that she wanted to use the logo
with the counters (shown below) so this means
that I will have to screen print the logos onto the
envelopes - I could possible have the logos cut
out in vinyl and added on but I feel that looses the
authenticity of what the final outcome can look.

The branding package needed to be screen printed onto the chosen envelopes. The silver bubble wrap envelopes were chosen to reflect the style of her photography, and also form a contract with the chosen neon pink. When screen printing the envelopes the screen needed to be bled after each print, to prevent any thick ink application - applying white acrylic to the binder helped form an opaque print that can be seen on the silver envelopes. Before printing onto envelopes I printed onto a dark colours card to check for the vibrancy of the acrylic. The envelopes chosen are not only unique to the branding but also practical as the bubble wrap packaging will protect any work sent out to professionals.

experimentation with
size and composition of the logo

This size of the logos worked best
for Jasmine

Due to the chosen logo being one that can’t be screen printed, the colour pink needed to be changed as neon pink cannot be printed in CMYK - so the colour was changed to magenta, to form a consistent print over all the deliverables. There was the idea of being able to screen print the logos onto business cards but Jasmine wanted to just be able to print the cards off herself.

I wanted Jasmine to have the highest quality work ready to hand in so I looked into if she wanted the business cards printed professional with Awesome Prints - I was able to find a business card set that would allow her get away with having a vibrant pink logo. However she said she didn't have enough time to pay for it.

Vinyl stickers that Jasmine had made using the logo - I wasn't 100% sure about the pink one as it didn't correspond well with her her business card as she can't print in RBG - however both the stickers look really good and she has been sticking them around Leeds.

I would have liked to have known that she was going to write on the stickers because I would have been more than happy to add it as a layer for her vinyl stickers.

The Final logo design and type placed on a business card - set up by by me and printed by Jasmine.

The postcards set up by me and printed by Jasmine these will be added to the envelope to send I people, along with the stickers and business cards.
