Wayfinding system - Emma and Finn

Emma and Finn were responsible for the wayfinding system that would be placed outside and inside the exhibition. Both approaches looked at incorporated the elements that make the logo. Mainly being the arrows and the composition of the writing inspired by the logo design. The block colours approached were deemed more successful to the gradient designs due to the clear way this wayfinding could be further applied to easily categorise the work in the three chosen themes - humanities, science and art.

The above design was chosen for the final approach of the wayfinding system, showing a clear link to the CMYK theme, clearly shows the label and incorporates the frame like corners from the logo to form arrows is a simple yet effective way. If this design was to be produced it would be done so by using vinyl.

"To further the wayfinding system Finn came up with the idea that the use of the corners can be used to colour code the posters, shown in Figure 5 and 6, therefore the corners will be placed around the category, splitting them into 3 sections, arts, science and humanities." - Emma Blackman

The Above image shows the simple design layout of the exhibition executing the way the corners wil be used to segregate the different categories. The image also showcase how the information and name of the exhibition will be placed, this was decided to be included so that if any members of the public visit the exhibition with no prior knowledge for the exhibition they will be able to identify what the exhibition is about. Below is the description that will be placed on the wall, simple and clear to understand.

Description:
Public Spaces:
The uses and [sometimes] abuses of public spaces do much to communicate the identity and character of cities. Across Leeds there are a huge list of events that take place within its public spaces that range from carnivals, concerts, markets, exhibitions, parades, sports events, protests, happenings, flash mobs, etc.

As the exhibitions purpose is to showcase the Level 4 and Level 5 students work, I thought it would be a great idea to use name tags for the exhibition, this will showcase the name of the designer, and also allow them to share their instagram design account, to promote themselves as a graphic designer to the public as well, Below shows how the design will look:
